There are two street entrances to get into the Walter Army Medical Campus: (1) 6825 16th St. NW; and (2) 6900 Georgia Ave., NW. Illustrated on the map below.

Parking:
Absolutely no parking on the Walter Reed Army Base. Street parking is available, but extremely limited.

Public Transportation:
The AFIP is a short cab or bus ride from the Silver Spring or Takoma Park stops on Metrorail's Red Line. From Silver Spring Metro, take Bus 70 or 71, S2 or S4. From Takoma Park Metro take Bus 52 or 54, or K2.

The AFIP is located five miles north of the White House between 16th Street and Georgia Avenue, NW, Washington, DC, on the Walter Reed Army Medical Center campus. Weekend and evening visitors must enter by the Georgia Avenue and Elder Street gate. Show a drivers license or other picture I.D. and give the AFIP (bldg.54) as your destination.

From downtown follow 16th Street, NW, beyond the Carter Baron Amphitheater and the junction with Military Road. At the first gate after Aspen Street turn right onto the Walter Reed campus. At the circle, turn right onto 14th Street. Travel one block to the stop sign, go through the stop sign, on your right is the AFIP.


From the Beltway take I-495 to exit 31-B/Georgia Avenue - Silver Spring. Follow Georgia Avenue south beyond the junction with East-West Highway (Rt. 410) to Elder Street, NW. Turn right onto the Walter Reed campus. Turn right at the stop sign and follow the winding road past the hospital/garage complexes to the next stop sign. On your right will be the back of the Radiologic Pathology Classroom (bldg.53). Continue pass bldg. 53, and you will see the AFIP (bldg.54) on your right.
